Multimedia support and OH & S

Providing Multimedia Support in the
Library - OH&S

As library workers it is often our role to setup screens, data projecting equipment etc.
As with all multimedia equipment, health and safety principles must be considered when setting up a screen. Portable screens can be large and tricky to handle. Manual handling principles must be practiced when lifting, carrying and setting up. It very may be necessary for two people to be involved in this process. Portable screens have legs which can create a tripping hazard. Always be mindful of the position of the screen in relation to walkways etc.

Rules for computer use in the library

Acceptable use of
computers in the Library

  • Use the internet wisely and responsibly - so they are readily accessible to students and the public.

  • Readers are requested to restrict their use to research related activities

  • Use of Library computers to access games or conduct financial transactions is discouraged.

  • Do not attempt to fix technical or software problems or change settings. Leave all settings / equipment switched on.

  • Users must not access, download or print any offensive material.

  • The National Library of Australia recognises that there are particular issues concerning access to the internet by young people, and recommends that where concerns exist, parents or guardians should supervise children as they access the internet.
